Aug 2002 - Aria Professional Services advises Severn Shire Council it has met with landholders on behalf of developers about a 20-turbine development.

late 2004 - wind monitoring towers erected on three properties.

Mar 2007 - consultants Connell Wagner releases preliminary environment report.

May 2007 - sound monitoring devices installed at two Furracabad properties.

Dec 2007 - Connell Wagner holds community information open day.

Feb 2008 - Furracabad residents first speak out against the development due to the proximity of towers to their homes at a Glen Innes Severn Council meeting.

Mar 2008 - The Glen Innes Landscape Guardians Inc formed and a community petition begun, with 400 signatures presented to parliament.

Mar 2008 - Council develops a Development Control Plan for future wind farm developments which includes a 2km setback between houses and turbines.

Apr 2008 - Development Application for the Glen Innes Wind Farm lodged with the NSW Department of Planning.

May 2008 - Council adopts DCP after revising a draft to make the plan retrospective.

Jun 2008 - Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay backs Council’s DCP and the 2km setback.

Council amends DCP to seek section 94 contributions from the developers.

Nov 2008 - Environmental assessment goes on display and later proponents hold two community consultation open days.

Dec 2008 - NP Power states a 2km setback would render the wind farm unviable

Mar 2009 - Premier Nathan Rees declared New England as one of five newly created Renewable Energy Precincts in NSW and says wind farm developments should comply with local council and community standards

Jul 2009 - NSW Upper House inquiry into rural wind farms announced.

Aug 2009 - Public written submissions to the inquiry close

October 2 - Glen Innes Wind Farm approved by the NSW Department of Planning

October 16 - Windfarm inquiry holds hearing at Tamworth, which is attended by representatiaves of the Landscape Guardians and Glen Innes Severn Council.

November 3 - NSW Planning Minister Kristina Keneally announces approval of Glen Innes Wind Farm, with conditions including the removal of one proposed turbine.
