No stable manger, but Carols now in a barn

The Christmas carols in Glen Innes will this year take on a new setting as it moves from Anzac Park to the Glen Innes High School.

The event previously known as Carols in the Park will now become Carols in the Barn with the shelter offered at the school meaning the show will go on rain, hail or shine.

Seventh Day Adventist Church Minister Keith Jackson said last year rain put a halt to the festivities but with the new venue this year that would not be the case.

“Last year it was completely rained out and looking at the weather this year anything could happen so we wanted somewhere that the carols could take place no matter what,” he said.

The community will come together to celebrate the festive season on Sunday December 7 from 6.30pm with numerous groups set to perform.

Entertainers on the night will include acapella singing group The Promise, Spirit of the Glen and the Glen Innes Public School choir with the support of musicians from Glen Innes and Tenterfield.

The children will have plenty to keep them occupied with entertainment from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church youth group and Geoff Hovey from the Tenterfield Christian Life Centre telling Christmas stories.

The public have been asked to bring a small wrapped gift to place under a Christmas tree for those less fortunate. Gifts should be wrapped and marked with the age and gender intended for the gift.

Glen Innes Family and Youth Support Services will then distribute the gifts.
