Police are seeking witnesses in relation to an incident on Monday afternoon that led to a 51 year old man having to be flown to a Queensland hospital.
The Glen Innes man was found unconscious and with severe head injuries at the corner of Wentworth and Railway Streets by police and ambulance officers at about 5.15pm.
As a result he was taken to Glen Innes Hospital in a serious condition and was then transported to a Gold Coast Hospital.
Yesterday afternoon he was reported as being in a stable condition.
A short time after the assault occurred police were able to apprehend a 29 year old Glen Innes man in relation to the offence and take him into custody. He was charged later that evening with causing grievous bodily harm after investigations by New England detectives.
He appeared in Armidale Local Court on Tuesday and was refused bail. He was again due to appear in the same court yesterday but at the time of print a result could not be confirmed.
