A number of special guests — including Federal Member for New England Tony Windsor and State Member for the Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay — made their way to Glen Innes on Friday for the annual Glen Innes High School Dux Ceremony.

Rachelle Lee was crowned Dux of the class of 2011 after she returned outstanding results in last year’s HSC.

Rachelle was the sole local student to be named on the HSC Top Achievers List, with a terrific test score of 97.6 in the Personal Development Health and Physical Education (PD/H/PE)exam.

Her Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 93.15 was also the best in her class.

Last year’s school captain Anthony Kamphorst was second with 92.10 and Reece Ross placed third with 88.35.

During the ceremony there were two performances by some of the school’s budding musicians, while principal Mike Gray and Mr Torbay both made addresses.

All students who scored Band 6s were also presented with awards, they were:

* Ashleigh Dawson: Community and Family Studies

* Jessica Fletcher: Modern History and Textiles and Design

* Anthony Kamphorst: Agriculture

* Rachelle Lee: Food Technology and PD/H/PE

* Reece Ross: Physics
