At Lynch Oval Golf Club recorded their first win of the season by downing reigning premiers Railway Tavern.
Golf Club won the toss and elected to bat first against a depleted Tavern line-up. The first wicket fell in the third over with the score on just eight runs when Dave Balchin was well caught off the bowling of Scott McLaren (1 for 17 from 6 overs) Will Buckingham added 16 runs before Peter Cole was run out by McLaren for nine runs. Paul Knox (24 including four boundaries) and Arthur Latham had a solid partnership of 57 runs before Knox was bowled by youngster Adam Morris, who finished with 4 for 33 from his 5 overs.
Latham finished the innings unbeaten on 57 making Tavern pay dearly for dropped catches.
Golf Club finished their 30 overs on 9 for 150 with Tavern bowlers conceding a hefty 23 runs in wides.
In reply, Tavern opener Neale Smith (8) was the first wicket to fall when he was bowled by Blake Steel (1 for 30) in the sixth over with the score on 17. Dale Keegan found the boundary four times before being caught in the deep for 24 runs.
McLaren found some form with the bat with a fine 67 not out batting out the final 25 overs. His 50 came up when he was caught on the boundary but the fielder carried the ball over the boundary for six. Adam Morris remained nine not out at the tail after a mid-order collapse saw Latham snare three wickets in one over.
Latham finished 5 overs with the impressive figures of 3 for 5.
Andrew Steel also bowled economically, conceding just 12 runs from 6 overs. Tavern batted out their 30 overs but fell short of the required runs with 7 for 133.
