Aaron Flaherty and Brendon Reynolds will today clash heads when Flaherty’s Country Colts Team takes on the New South Wales High Performance side that Reynolds will be a part of.
The Twenty20 match will be played in Sydney the Blacktown Olympic Park No.2 ground, which will be followed by a two-day match starting tomorrow.
This will be the second time Flaherty has represented Country this year but he identified this team as one he was really keen to be a part of.
“It was one of my goals for the season, to play for Colts,” he told the Northern Daily Leader.
Being the youngest player in the Country senior side Flaherty was almost certain to make the Colts side after being a shadow for last year’s team.
“I played for the High Performance side that they (Country Colts) played last year.”
That is the side that his Tamworth Club side City United and Glen Innes team mate Brendon Reynolds will play for this year.
Flaherty said that the two upcoming matches will be a good opportunity for him to press for a spot in the NSW U/19’s side for next year with the NSW Second XI team taking on Western Australia in the Futures League on the opposite ground.
“It’s a great opportunity to impress the selectors for the 19’s.”
“It’d be good to score a few runs down there, put on a good show.”
