GLORIOUS spring conditions at picturesque grounds made for enjoyable competition for Glen Innes junior footballers at the annual Tenterfield carnival on Sunday.
Glen Innes fielded teams in the under 6’s, under 7’s, under 9’s and under 12’s, against teams from Tenterfield, Stanthorpe, Warwick and the Northern Inland Football 13 years girls development squad.
The 7’s were runners up to Stanthorpe, the 9’s runners up to Warwick, and in the grand final in the 12’s, the Glen Innes team went down 1-0 in a very tight game against the NIF Girls 13yr team, which trains as a rep squad.
Congratulations to every Glen Innes player who attended and to the parents and coaches who continue to support junior football.
The junior footballers congratulate the Highlanders on making it into the grand final in all three divisions. The grand final of the Armidale and District competition will be held on Saturday September 26 in Armidale. This will be a big day for football, also being gala day and season wrap-up for the juniors. The final format of the day will be finalised at a committee meeting this Thursday night.
In the lead up and on the day, Kelly Murphy is running a raffle for the club, and anyone willing to donate goods towards the raffle should email her at oongyak@bigpond.com
