Glen Innes was the venue for the District Junior Singles held last Saturday and Sunday.
Juniors came from Armidale City, Armidale Ex Services, Guyra and Glen Innes.
Two local juniors took part, Jason Beattie was narrowly beaten in his first match but played well.
Nick Ellem on the other hand won both his matches to reach the final which was played on Sunday morning.
Ellem was up against Brayden Sole from Guyra, who is currently in the NSW junior squad.
In a final that officials rated very highly, Ellem went down 31 shots to 22.
Both Beattie and Ellem are improving with each competition and have put their names forward for the upcoming pennant sides, which will be selected this week.
Tenterfield carnival
On Sunday, Tenterfield held their annual triples tournament, with teams from Brisbane, Evans Head, Toowoomba, Stanthorpe, Warwick and Grafton participating.
On a day that finally remained fine, the Glen team of Robert Rees, John Bird and Joe Adams struggled on the very slow greens, but still managed to finish in fourth place.
Social bowls
On Australia Day, an excellent roll up of over 30 players took part.
The winners on the day with a terrific effort were Lyn Dunnage and Alan Beehag who defeated Peter Bool and Maurie Dunn 16 ends 32 shots to 5 ends 7 shots.

Sunday will be another triples afternoon for both men and women, with the normal prizes for first and second placegetters. Names to the games room from noon until 12.30pm.

Glen will travel to Tenterfield on February 12 with seven triples teams. The teams have been finalised and are on the notice board.
