The New England Bridge Club is offering six free lessons to any willing participants.
Gerry Dawson who is a member of the Australian Bridge Teachers Association has been travelling around town on his bike this week dropping flyers in mailboxes to encourage people to take up the game of Bridge.
“It’s easy to learn it’s a very similar game to 500, although there are different terms,” he said.
The Bridge Club has been able to put on these lessons free of charge because of a $300 grant from the Australian Bridge Federation.
Mr Dawson said the Bridge Club was part of a research project at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.
“We have a fundraiser once a year to donate money to the project.”
Mr Dawson said that Bridge does take a while to learn, but once you pick the game up it is a lot of fun.
“After a few lessons, they will be able to play under supervision and then eventually by themselves.”
“There will be a small cost that will apply, they will also have to buy their own learning book.
He said that Bridge is a very popular game and most reasonable size towns have a Bridge Club and encourages any one who wishes to learn the game to take up the offer on these lessons.
