GLEN INNES 3
Guyra 4
On Saturday the home crowd was poised for the top of the table clash between Guyra and Glen Innes in the Ladies League Tag.
But trying conditions resulted in woeful play with both sides conceding numerous handling errors. Glen were unable to find their rhythm and were lucky to escape with a one point loss.
Guyra were to nab the first two tries before Glen’s Fiona Williamson scored down the wing after finding an overlap. Speedster Courtney Grange was to equal the scores at two a piece going into the break.
From the restart Guyra were first to score after a runaway but continued pressure saw player’s player Kayla Williams slip past three defenders to score under the post and equal the scores at three all.
With ten minutes to go Guyra got the runaway down the wing but the ball was dropped over the tryline. Continued pressure by the Guyra defence forced attacking errors from Glen as they were unable to get out of their own 30m. Minutes later, Guyra nabbed the win through a surge through the middle of the field.
Glen slip to third spot on the ladder and need to win against a much-improved Bingara side at home on Saturday to keep the advantage.
