With 35 members, the Glen Innes Quilt Show has established itself as a regular event, reportedly growing in popularity since its inception in 2006.
With displays and trading tables from across the New England region to be on show at the Cameron Uniting Church from 10am on Thursday, May 1, and from 9am on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, Group president Barbara Chard said the event is promising to be a great success.
“There will be a lot of charity quilts this year,” Mrs Chard said, with a specially made quilt to be raffled during the Show and all proceeds to go to a local charity.
“We have not decided which charity it will be, but we will be keeping it local,” Mrs Chard said.
With all the crafty know-how from across the region, Mrs Chard said the show is a great opportunity for hobbyists and fellow quilters to find materials and expertise showcasing arts and crafts in “all shapes and sizes”. With the group meeting on Monday and Wednesday evenings, Mrs Chard said the Quilt Show has become a popular local attraction, growing steadily since the beginning and highlighted by the Quilt Show held every two years.
Running in conjunction with the Australian Celtic Festival, the Quilt Show offers a unique local experience for visitors and residents, with Mrs Chard calling all to come along and see the fine works achieved by the community group.
