As the match draws near, player/coach Sam Key said the local side has proved a tough contender as the season progresses, with strong and regular turnouts to club training sessions.
Key said the weekly training has developed the line-up into a tough, tactical side, with club morale ever on the increase.
“It’s a great vibe at training,” Key said, impressed with the regular turnout and the club’s season determination.
While the Uralla side has recruited a tough line-up this year, reportedly fielding one of the most formidable back lines in the season, the player/coach said the Magpies will take to the field with the same hard-hitting and tactical plays that have secured an impressive season performance.
Set to field a complete line-up on the day, Key said Matthew Crowhurst has been cleared to play following a rib injury earlier in the season, with the Magpies’ utility player sure to lift the squad’s determination going into the game, while former country junior rep Jock Waters has also returned to the field, following a short break, promising a full contingent on the day.
With the Under 18s also set to take the field, following an absence since thrashing Moree in round one of the competition, the four-match event featuring the ladies league tag, juniors, reserves and first grade line-ups is promising a hard-hitting weekend highlight, from 11am.
In other club news, club president Pat Lonergan has reported that the first grade club jumper auction will be held over until the next home game, to be held on May 25, so as not to conflict with the Celtic Festival this weekend.
With doubles entries available for sale on the day and a $6 gate fee, the Magpies are calling on local support this weekend in what is promising to be an impressive match this weekend.
