Soulful vocal performances by Glen Innes High School (GIHS) students Zoe Carpenter-Kerr, Dayna Hourn, Emily Winter and Shannen Rolfe were interspersed with spirited choral presentations by student groups from Glen Innes Public School (GIPS), St Joseph’s Primary School and the high school along with a Cornish square dance display by Red Range Public School students.
The program was wrapped up with a soaring rendition of Heartland performed by the Combined Celtic Choir, after the choir sang Hail to the Homeland and Cornwall My Home earlier in the concert.
Isn’t She Lovely, sung by the GIHS choir under the hand of Nicole Schaffer, was a particular delight, as was the enthusiastic choreography that accompanied GIHS K-2’s rendition of A Sailor Went to Sea.
The concert schedule is Wednesday and Thursday evenings, April 30 and May 1, at 6.30pm and Thursday at 12.30pm, all in the GIPS new hall, with extracts also performed in front of Glen Innes Town Hall from 10.45am on Friday, May 2, in the lead-up to the festival weekend.
