It may have been a short ride, but former local student Tim Rossington said his time on The X Factor is already opening doors in his musical career.

“I’m riding a wave,” he said. “The exposure has been great and I can’t get enough thanks out there.”
After flooring judges and a packed house with his unique “puntry” cover of Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive, the outgoing performer said Boot Camp eliminations proved more intense, grouped among three other fellow under 25 contenders to perform Lanterns by hit al-rock band Birds of Tokyo.
One of the unlucky half of the group of four artists to not progress beyond Boot Camp, Tim said – in spite of the short-lived experience on the popular talent show – he has gleaned a mass of inspiration alongside an eclectic bunch of national artists.
Pinning his success on his band of family, friends and supporters, Tim said the X Factor has only inspired him to take his musical career as far as he can, already finding success with club bookings and his own recording niche.
Teaming up with close friend Alex Quayle, Tim said their “funky and fresh” acoustic groove duo Hire Hats is gearing up to record an EP later in the year.
While the young hopeful’s X Factor experience may be done, social media is already turning its attention towards the quirky vocalist and his unique style.
As the crew of X Factor contenders is slowly diminished to a handful of finalists, the popular talent show continues to air on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7.30pm and Sundays from 6.30pm.
