Food Without Attitude volunteers put up a filling free meal of stew, pizza, bread and dessert to all those who come along to the Community Centre each Thursday lunchtime and Friday night evening.
Organiser Jane Creagan said she and partner Carl Cree would be unable to operate the service without the ongoing support of a number of organisations.
She thanked the Community Centre for providing rent-free space, and specifically manager Bob Kelly for his suggestion of relocating the soup kitchen to the centre two years ago, allowing the service to flourish.
The Glen Innes Opportunity Shop, Lions and Rotary Clubs provide financial support, and both Eagle Boys Pizza and Smeaton’s Bakery donate food. The service even enjoys the contributions of a ‘cake fairy’ who magically delivers all kinds of sweet treats.
Ms Creagan and Mr Cree even manage one week off each month thanks to having Sandy and Desmond Fitzgerald to fill their shoes on those occasions, leaving Food Without Attitude in safe hands.
All these contributions were acknowledged at the special get-together, where a typical Food Without Attitude menu was enjoyed by all.
