This was only the second competitive carnival this season, with every age group from the under 6s to under 16s competing.
There was also hair spray painting and face painting to keep the youngsters entertained. In the under 6s Warwick took out the winner’s title with the Glen Innes Jaguars coming runner-up.
The under 7s was hotly contested with the Glen Innes Jaguars taking out top spot and the Glen Innes number 1s coming runner-up.
Glen Innes were very strong in the under 8s division with Glen Innes 2 edging out Glen Innes 1.
The under 9s again proved far too good for their opposition with Glen Innes taking the podium position with Warwick the runnersup.
There wasn’t a division for under 10s but in the under 11s it was a real battle between the Queensland teams with Stanthorpe being far too good for the second-placed Warwick, and the enthusiastic Glen Innes Highlanders came in third.
The under 13s Glen Innes team came to play and played really well, taking out that division with Warwick runners-up and finally the under 16s had only two teams represented.
After the presentations a minute’s silence was held in respect for the late Michael Glennan, who did so much for junior soccer over the years. Congratulations to the committee and volunteers who have given up their free time, not just on Sunday but when needed as without their help hosting such events wouldn’t be possible. Anna McCormick
