The village’s activity officer Janelle Gmyr was on hand at the school on Thursday – accompanied by a contingent of village residents – to present Ruby with a certificate of appreciation and to congratulate her and her classmates on their excellent effort. The other designs will be used to decorate the village as Christmas approaches.
Ruby will receive six of the printed cards herself, as well as a $50 book voucher. The school received a $100 book voucher.
Ms Gmyr said each of the Royal Freemason Benevolent Insti-tution’s villages is working with a local school to design that village’s Christmas card, with RFBI’s head office also using the cards at the corporate level.
Locally the cards are sent to the families of the village’s residents as well as suppliers and other contacts. Each of the residents also receives a supply to distribute as they wish, so Ruby’s artwork will be seen far and wide.
