Long-term resident Johnny White swept newly-appointed Glen Innes Severn Council deputy mayor Di Newman onto the makeshift dance floor on Friday as celebrations got underway for the official renaming of the former low-care wing of Roseneath Aged Care Centre to the White Wing, in his honour.

The facility has been the home of sprightly 86-year-old Mr White for 41 years, and his penchant for dancing and for recalling facts was well demonstrated on the day, which included an official ribbon cutting by Mr White and member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall.
The renaming heralds a raft of upgrades in store for the facility over the next few years.
