Situated in Pool B the Glen Innes men’s team played teams from Dalby, Inverell and Warwick which took them to the grand final to play against Tenterfield. Playing a hard close game with only one point between the sides most of the way, it came down to the last 2.4 seconds on the clock, when a shot from Glen’s Guy Hargreaves from the other end of the court went in and won Glen Innes the game by two points 22-20.
The shot certainly caused some commotion with the whole team and crowd jumping up and running onto the court.
Carnival organiser Jason Ash said the miracle shot is something players dream about doing on the court.
“The shot from the other end of the court you’ll probably never ever see it happen again, it was something you dream about, shooting a ball from the other end of the court and it going in,” he said.
The Glen Innes side will next compete in the Jacaranda carnival at Grafton this weekend, where they will hoping to bring home another victory.
