I had the privilege of attending the Glen Innes High School Dance Spectacular last Wednesday and it was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed.

Being new to town it was warming to see the community come together to support the event which featured some very talented performers. The support shown to the spectacular was indicative of what makes small towns great places to live, with community members giving up their time to show their support for the creative endeavours of their family, friends and neighbours.
Kudos to the organisers who put on a show that appealed to all while meshing local culture with global. From the many routines of the Glen High girls including Bollywood-style dancing to the Celtic dance groups and tap dancers, all put in a mammoth effort to make an enjoyable night out for all those who attended.
And massive congratulations to all of the dancers involved who were both graceful and athletic in entertaining a near-capacity crowd at The Chapel Theatre.
A lot of my city-based friends questioned my move here, asking what there was to do and see. That night I learned that if you make an effort to see what a community has to offer, often it will surprise you.
