The Australian Celtic Friends of the Festival Tartan Ball will be a black tie and tartan affair with a variety of entertainment as well as a three course dinner. The aim of the event is to raise money to help with the staging and growth of the festival.
As well as the Glen Innes Pipe band there will be plenty on offer for those wishing to show their support including Armi-dale band Weary Cow, according to festival chair Lara Gresham.
“There will be entertainment from Armidale and Glen Innes, and a three course dinner, a mystery box auction and we will also have a Celtic harpist so it should be a really spectacular night,” she said.
Sticking with the Celtic theme, traditional haggis will be served, with the Scottish dish additional to the three course dinner.
Mrs Gresham said the festival committee is hoping to build the ball into a key event not to be missed for people throughout the region.
“We’d like to make it an annual event and make it a big part of the social calendar in Glen Innes, and invite people from all the surrounding towns and villages.”
