THE Dundee dog auction was hailed a huge success by organisers after a large crowd flocked to the Dundee Sports Ground to watch the bidding go down. Over 80 registered buyers vied for the best dogs around with the top priced dog Culgoa Morten, a male Kelpie going to a Chris and Kelly Hoppe of Deepwater for $4450 dollars.

Trainers and farmers came from all across the state for the auction including as far away as Tumut, Forbes, Casino and Bowraville to name just a few of the locations from where trainers travelled from to attend the auctions and Sheep dog trials which were also held in conjunction with the auction.
The average price over the sale was $2233.87, and in a sign of the modern day farmer, bids were also taken over the phone with bidders buying off an online catalogue and also having the option to view Youtube videos of the dogs in action.
Saturday November 15 morning saw the RMA Vendor Yard trial which is the richest dog trial in the state and after 29 runs including finals the prize money was won by Stuart Williamson trialling Cloverville Trend II with a score of 177.
The three sheep dog trials saw a huge field of 140 individual runs. Taking out the Encourage class trail was Sarah Mortimer and Dixie, winning the novice class was Justin Tombs with Sunraysa George.
The improver class was won by Greg Prince and China’s Gift and the Open 1st class saw Maree Moran and Kildare bailey with Glen Innes local Gary barker coming runner up with Fiesta Girl Lee, as well as third with Barkers Clifford, fourth with Barkers Harley and fifth with Old Mill tossup.
