Mr Mander was rewarded for always being on the spot to help out the club with a range of tasks as well as also serving as chairman of the club for four years and acting chairman for one. Chairman of the registered club Terry Donald said Mander’s involvement with the club has been invaluable.

Mander is happy to help out anywhere he is needed which over the years has included maintaining the barbecue, organising Sunday bowls and croquet to selling raffle tickets, Mander telling The Examiner he doesn’t help with the aim of being applauded or recognised but out of a love for his club and place of residence.
I’ll help out with anything that going on really, raffles; to barbecues tomorrow (yesterday) we are helping with the top dressing of the green.”
“Anything I do for the club I do it because I want to do it, I don’t go looking for any accolades or pats on the back I do it because I love the club and I love the town I live in.”
Despite all he does for his club Mander said the life membership definitely took him by surprise.
“I nearly fell off my chair, it was very unexpected.”
