The Glen Innes Cup was a female affair this year with apprentice jockey Jodi Worley riding Miss Caitlyn to victory. Worley and the Paddy Cunningham trained horse who was trained in Glen Innes in preparation for the Cup, denied last year’s winner Keep It Danish back to back victories with the Sue Grills trained horse coming a close second with Waikiki Gold trained by Inverell’s Luke Berger coming third. When speaking with The Examiner following the race Worley said she was impressed by her horses grit and determination in the face of a tough challenge from Keep It Danish.

"A tough mare. When we were challenged by Keep it Danish she just kept on giving,” she said.
The Cup success continues the stunning from the mare and the jockey have shown of late with the race becoming the fifth the pair have combined to win, Worley adding that the win was extra special considering the relationships shared by herself and the connections of the cup winner.
“This is my first Cup win so i am very excited. I have now rode Miss Caitlyn for five of her career wins,” she said.
“I am thrilled to be able to ride the mare past the post first for Paddy and Kathy Cunningham and the connections who are all family and friends."
For trainer Paddy Cunningham who saddled up four horses across the six race program the win was extra special having already claimed a Cup win as a jockey.
"A big thrill, it means a bit more to win your hometown cup,” he said.
“As well as riding a Glen Innes Cup winner, I have now trained a Cup winner.”
“We now also know that Miss Caitlyn can run out 1400 metres.”
A large crowd turned out at the Glen Innes Jockey Club to witness the six exciting races as well as a popular fashions on the field competition and other entertainment. The first race of the day, a 1000 metre maiden plate, was won by the Jim Jarvis trained Light ‘N’ Ready and jockey Kasie Stanley with Cunningham’s Averted and Our Minaan coming in fourth and eight place. The second race a 1400 metre class two plate was won by Playmate, trained by George Woodward ridden by Melissa Brown, with Rock Right On trained by Peter Sinclair with Darren Jones aboard in second, just ahead of Carry Me Gee Gee from the cup winning team of Cunningham and Worley.
Race three was a 1400 maiden handicap taken out by Kestera Star trained by Vanessa McLennan ridden by Peter Graham. New Zealand runner Rocky Elmano trained by Paul Grills coming second with Atlantean Souls in third.
Following the Glen Innes Cup race five a 1000 metres benchmark 50 handicap was won by Harada Tat Tat with Star For Sharyn and Seaza in second and third respectively.
The days final race was won by the Sue Grills trained Tennavous ahead of Beauzel and Some Boy.
