“We are expecting it to be well attended there has been a lot of interest from within town especially because so many people are concerned about TAFE enrolments and protecting those enrolments and our local TAFE,” he said.
Dr Kaye, who is also the Greens lead candidate for the NSW Upper House in the March poll, will outline Greens key priorities in the new parliament, including a secure future for TAFE, the legalisation of medicinal cannabis and a Renewable Energy future for NSW.
Mr Goldstein said renewable energy and the future of the electricity grid are key state-wide issues which the Greens will be campaigning on.
“State wide a big issue will be keeping our electricity grid in public hands, it’s our grid we payed for it with our taxes and then another big issue related to that will be how meet our electricity needs going forward with renewable energy,” he said.
The local candidate pointed to an electricity grid in Moree as proof of the reliability of renewable energy to meet the state’s needs.
“Here in the northern tablelands the new solar farm being built at Moree will generate 56 watts that’s enough to generate enough power to run all the residential homes in Inverell, Glen Innes and Moree,” he said.
“It’s something that is clearly within the grasp of todays technology it’s not something that is science fiction.”
He added that Mr Kaye who is an electrical engineer will be uniquely qualified to speak on eletrcity based issues.
“John is an engineer so he will be able to speak in detail about these issues and that’s why we have brought him up here,” he said.
