This scholarship, which assists those studying in medical or paramedical fields, was established in memory of a former well-known nursing sister and former Glen Innes councillor, Alice Matilda Robinson, BEM.
Under the terms of Mrs Robinson’s will, the scholarship is open to undergraduate male students between the ages of 17 and 25, studying medicine or other paramedical subjects.
The scholarship may also be awarded to students involved in medical radiography, medical pathology, physiotherapy, pharmacology, nursing, paramedic or similar subjects.
Now in its 34th year,
Current awardees are Simon Haron and Nicholas Grob, and with Simon having completed his initial training, the scholarship trustees are seeking new applicants.
They said priority would be given to candidates who normally reside in the Glen Innes area, and who lack the privileges of financial resources for their studies.
Applications close on Wednesday, February 25, and scholarship recipients will be announced next month.
Applications, which should include date of birth, contact details, copies of references and acceptance into 2015 tertiary course of study, should be addressed to: The Trustees, A. M. Robinson Memorial Scholarship, PO Box 16, Glen Innes, 2370.
