Chris will compete at the 2015 ALPA NSW and national young auctioneer’s competition on March 26 at the Sydney Royal Easter show.
The competition which sees auctioneers judged on their diction, values, voice and manner as well as their presence and unique style and performance is marked by a three judge panel of industry experts.
Chris, who is in his fifth year in the industry and his third year working for Elders Glen Innes, is looking forward to what will be his second crack at the prestigious competition.
“I was nominated by the company to go down and represent them in the competition, I went last year so this year is my second year in the competition,” he said.
“When you go down there the first time you don’t really know what to expect and how its going to play out with crowd of about 700 and 800 people so it’s a bit daunting but this year I’ll know a bit more what to expect.”
“Last year I didn’t win but it was a good experience this year I think I will be more confident.”
Chris said he loves his role as an auctioneer and is looking forward to a big year.
“I sell in Glen Innes and Inverell most weeks and I enjoy the job it’s a pretty good lifestyle.”
“The business here in Glen Innes is going ahead in leaps and bounds and it’s all looking very positive, especially the cattle industry it’s looking very positive this year so it’s an exciting time to be an auctioneer and stand up on the rails.”
