Last week’s Business in Glen (BIG) meeting may have been the most “robust and informative” session since formation in July last year, public officer and secretary Kylie Hawkins said, but the crystallising business group is looking for more members to come on board and have their say.

Ms Hawkins said the BIG books are currently showing around 29 local business members and a further 78 members from the Glen Innes Tourism Association.
“It is running well, but we would like to see a greater degree of take-up,” Ms Hawkins said.
The meeting was one of the most successful since the group’s formation, Ms Hawkins said, and the committee left the meeting feeling confident in the collaborative ideas voiced by attending members.
“BIG is the hub. It’s the point where we can make a difference,” she said, extending an open invitation for businesses to come on board.
“It is the point where we can cooperatively work for strategies that lead to real solutions.”
Coming hot off the back of the previous meeting, the group are preparing for a New South Wales Business Chamber seminar tomorrow.
“The intention of the session is for potential and existing members to see where the value is in being a member of the NSW business chamber,” Ms Hawkins said.
The session will commence from 12 noon and again from 6pm at the Glen Innes and District Services Club and will be attended by former New England and North West NSWBC regional manager Kellon Beard as well as current regional manager Jo Townsend.
Mr Beard said the meeting will provide a rundown of the benefits available to local members from the NSWBC, covering a broad range of business matters including human resources and industrial relations, legal advocacy and marketing.
