Here’s the adapted to print version of my life.
I was born in Quirindi, but soon after that my Grandparents, Bruce and Annette, bought one more pub to add to their collection (The Royal Hotel) and that’s how I became local of Dunedoo. My Mum, Renae and myself went down to Dunedoo to check it all out and to help set up the new business and we’ve been there ever since.
For those of you who don’t know Dunedoo it’s about 5.5 hours southwest of Glen Innes. According to the welcome sign there are 829 people in town.
I went to school in Dunedoo and I was awarded Dux of Year 12 in 2012. I had a bit of a sea change after the HSC, moving to the Gold Coast where I completed my Bachelor of Journalism at Bond University. It was a massive culture shock going from a place with no water to being two minutes walk from the beach. Now I’m going to have to adjust to the cold country again!
I got into journalism after completing two rounds of work experience in Year 10 and I’ve always been interested in English and creative writing. During my Journalism degree I completed internships with the Port Stephens Examiner, Cosmopolitan Magazine and Events Management Queensland.
I’m an avid touch footballer, netballer and I don’t mind a bit of barefoot bowls either. Reading and writing have always been passions and purple is my favourite colour. You’ll never be able to understand my handwriting and I always try my best to tame my curly hair. I’m learning how to cook but desserts will always be my favourite.
I am looking forward to being part of the Glen Innes Community and to tell the stories of such an involved community. Looking forward to meeting you all.
