In the fiftieth year of the Red Shield Appeal Doorknock the national fundraising goal is $9.5 million.
Glen Innes Salvation Army Envoys Bernie and Kate Symens are ready for action coming into the final weeks of May.
“Last year we raised about $6400, but the target was only $5000,” Mr Symens said.
“The people of Glen Innes were just so generous and we appreciate it so much.”
“We love interacting with the town’s people.”
These funds go toward vital Salvation Army Programs and services such as women and children’s services, emergency welfare, addiction recovery programs and rural support.
“The money goes into a general fund and this is reallocated to our services,”
The Salvation Army wants to assure Glen Innes residents that Red Shield appeal volunteers will all carry a volunteer ID.
“And we will always give you a receipt,” Mrs Symens said.
The Red Shield Appeal weekend commences on May 30 and 31, however Glen Innes Salvation Army members will be around the main street leading up to the weekend.
