The man was taken to the Glen Innes District Hospital after the accident to undergo treatment and was released shortly after.
The driver also underwent mandatory blood tests and police say they are awaiting the results.
The truck rolled over at approximately 6.30 am Friday morning about 10 kilometers north of Glen Innes on the New England Highway.
The truck rolled onto its left side and came to rest just off the highway after crashing through a barbed wire fence.
The man was helped out of the truck by a passerby who notified police.
Police say the driver was at fault and they have issued a penalty notice for negligent driving.

The truck rolled over at approximately 6.40am about 10 kilometers north of Glen Innes on the New England Highway.
Police say the driver was taken to hospital where mandatory blood and urine tests were taken.
The truck rolled onto its left side and came to rest just off the highway after crashing through a barbed wire fence.
