The threat of foul weather did not deter travelling shooters who arrived eager to feature in the days prizes.
Event 1: 25T Point Score
AA: 1st David Edmonds, Geoff Baxter 74/75
A: 1st Ralph Larkings, Paul Wright 72/75
B: 1st Barry Sweeney 69/75, 2nd John Smith 68/75
C: 1st Helen Finch 62/75, 2nd Mellissa Grennan 59/75
Changing light and increasing winds made posting good scores a little challenging.
Some shooters dealt with this better than others.
It was great to see the comeback from David Conduit who had an untimely break from a sport he enjoys so much.
Event 2: 25T Single Barrel
AA: 1st Dale Ellis, David Edmonds 25/25
A: 1st Paul Wright 22/25, 2nd Ralph Larkings, John Lisle 20/25
B: 1st Neil Grennan 22/25, 2nd Barry Sweeney 21/25
C: 1st Helen Finch, Mellissa Grennan 20/25
The final event for the day was shot in almost dismal light conditions and well done to shooters who held it together as “it was tough going.”
The 50 Target Double Barrel Championships saw three shooters David Conduit, Dale Ellis and Nik McRae posting a perfect score, leaving them to battle it out in a shoot-off for the Overall Champion.
A shoot off between Ralph Larkings and Joey Edmonds was left to decide A Grade and it was Larkings claiming victory.
Event 3: 50T Double Barrel Championship
O/All: David Conduit 50/50 + 11/11 s/o
AA: Dale Ellis 50/50 + 10/11 s/o
A: Ralph Larkings 49/50 + 11/11 s/o
B: Barry Sweeney 47/50
C: Mellissa Grennan 46/50
In his repeatable style Geoff Baxter 147-150 took home yet another High Gun award.
This is a total of 5 out of 6 for the year.
Once again the $100 remained safe.
The day also saw husband and wife regraded after the day’s events.
Mellissa Grennan: C to B Grade and Neil Grennan: B to A Grade.
It was great to see a few new shooters out there enjoying themselves and we hope to see them back on Saturday July 4 (50 target Single Barrel Championships, 25 target Point Score and 25 target Double Barrel), commencing at 1pm, with a practice from 12noon.
Following the shoot will be the Pot Luck Dinner, an annual event which makes way for good food and a few laughs around the fire.
Members are asked to bring a pot of hot food or dessert.
