Norths defeated the Third Division Highlanders team 2-1 in a game where the Highlanders were unable to convert scoring opportunities.
Club President Rob Ferris said the Highlanders also suffered a couple of injuries throughout the match.
“The Highlanders suffered a couple of injuries but had a full substitution bench to cover these losses so we offer no excuses there,” he said.
“Whilst our backs held out attacks from Norths with Shane Walmsley leading the way ensuring the back line remained strong, the two penalty goals awarded to the Highlanders were unable to be converted into goals.
“Mal Donnelly and Jason Siddell played well in the mid field, both having shots for goal throughout the game whilst the Highlanders goal resulted from an own goal from the Norths team.”
Best and fairest on the day was Jason Siddell.
Both first and second’s games were called off.
