Duke performed his song Bounce at the Wednesday afternoon assembly which was very well received.
Straight out of Inverell, Duke’s lyrics deal with issues affecting him and his community and his view of the world.
Glen Innes Severn Council Youth Worker Kristy Newbury said Duke really pumped up the student’s enthusiasm for the upcoming school holidays.
“Glen Innes Severn Council has put a great effort into organising a couple of great free community activities with both the Graffiti Wall Mural and NAIDOC Week Celebrations,” she said.
“It would be fantastic to see as many 12 to 24 years being involved and having some fun over the school holidays.” During the first week of the school holiday’s youth are invited to be a part of an art day, which will be helping to design and paint of mural on the skate park graffiti wall.
Meeting at the Skate Park at 10am on Wednesday July 1, attendees are asked to wear warm clothing that is suitable to paint in.
A free lunch as well as art supplies will be provided by Glen Innes Severn Council.
The workshop will be guided in art and painting techniques by a local artist.
A free NAIDOC Week Celebration will be held in the Lion’s Park on Wednesday July 8, with entertainment from the Armajun Aboriginal Health Services Drum Beats and Duke Bailey.
A free Pot Luck tucker lunch will be provided by the Glen Innes Severn Council and Pathfinders.
