A close first half saw the Highlanders match Guyra around the park in most positions but some loose defence allowed Guyra to score some great goals.
Coach Dean Wilkins said that the Highlanders struggled to contain Guyra in the middle of the park and let in easy goals through lack of effort.
“Guyra scored several very easy goals due to a lacklustre performance from the team,” he said.
“There is improvement needed to be made if we are to make the semis and I urge all first division players to get to training and work on team structures.”
The second division team went down to Guyra 4-2 but played very well on the day according to Coach Rob Ferris.
“We had several key players absent on the day and we still managed to play well and hold our own in most positions,” he said.
“Dan Levy played well in the mid field with Ed Malone convincingly winning player’s player with a strong performance.
They were backed up by Luke Potter, Blake Dawson, Liam Muckinschnable, Konnor Ferris, Andrew Blackwell and Brandon Davis all getting points showing that it was a good team effort.”
The Third Division Highlanders team continues to play good football and ran out winners on the day defeating Uralla 3-2 in a hard fought match.
Captain Coach John Cameron played well and led from the front scoring two goals and playing well according to Mr Ferris.
“John steered the ship well on the day and his two goals set the win up for the team,” he said.
“Keith Byrne scored the other goal with Mal Donnelly awarded the players player. We had strong performances in the backs from Shane Walmsley and Justin Bushell and we eventually held Uralla out to steal the win.”
There will be no soccer for the next two weeks due to school holidays.
