The CWA is looking to promote their interest in the education of young people by sponsoring educational initiatives.
CWA Agriculture and Environment Officer Kay Farlow said by sponsoring initiatives and offering grants the association can assist children in their educational future.
“We try to get schools to be involved with the CWA so we can promote what we are doing and the focus with this initiative is on very young people,” she said.
“If children and their parents realise we offer these things now, then later on they may look to us when we donate money for older children and their school books for example.
“This year we had a focus on colouring in butterfly’s to appeal to young children and we have been surprised by the quality of the entries from such young minds.”
Glen Innes West Infants School Relief Principal Nicole Hutton said today was part of wider celebrations being held at the school for education week.
“Our celebrations today consisted of the CWA presenting awards to students, musical performances, class awards, a book fair and book week character dress up,” she said.
“Parents and Community members enjoy the small school atmosphere and today was a day that we come together to share our children’s achievements and acknowledge some of the very special people who are helping our students.”
Miss Hutton went on to say that the school community recognises the whole community plays a vital role in the education of our children.
“We do appreciate the CWA and all of the volunteers, parents, community members and staff who work together to ensure our children are achieving outstanding results,” she said.
