Emmaville held their relay for life on Saturday, August 29. Although their relay was run differently to traditional walks, the crowd enjoyed the day out.

The 50 registered walkers combined as a single team and hit the turf in a continual walk from 8am to 8pm.
The relay and the other fundraising events held by the committee raised over $5000 for the Cancer Council.
Saturday’s opening ceremony was conducted by Councillor Malcolm Schumacher.
Two Emmaville cancer survivors, Beverley Cecil and Margaret Haar, shared their story about their cancer fight and Rhonda Kirby shared her experiences as a carer with the crowd.
“We walked to celebrate our survivors, to honour our carers and to remember the loved ones we have lost to this insidious disease,” said organiser Marg Hart.
“Committee would like to thank the community of Emmaville for their support.”
Marg said the late rush of walkers registering was a very nice surprise.
“It was a good total for such a small community.”
“Even if they couldn’t walk, they can up and sat with us and had a chat throughout the day.”
On Sunday the Relay for Life committee held their final fundraising endeavour at The Club Hotel with music by The Wannabees.
“It was a terrific day to end our 12 week Relay for Life journey,” Marg said.
“It was such an awesome day.”
Community Relations Coordinator Ashleigh Worldon said she would like to thank the community on behalf of the cancer council.
