The aim of the day was to celebrate the achievements CWA but also inform the community that the CWA does other things than baking cakes.
The CWA hoped to raise awareness for the state campaigns focusing on Organ Donation and Domestic Violence awareness which were brought about by discussion at this year’s conference held in Tamworth.
The CWA were impressed with the turnout for the day; with people travelling from as far as Melbourne to visit the gardens of Glen Innes CWA President Betty Strong.
Group CWA Secretary Thea Zwiebel said many thanks should go to Betty, and her family Peter and Kim, for hosting such a lovely day in their garden.
Thea said the Northern Tablelands group of the CWA were all very happy with the day and the visitors through the gates reported great things.
Glen Innes CWA President Betty Strong said the all the members from all nine branches joined in on a great day.
“The weather was kind to us which was great,” she said.
“There were plenty of people visiting around the area and people travelling through.”
“For our first ever Spring Fair I thought that it all was very good.”
“On the whole it was just a beautiful day in a beautiful garden and all in all I think everyone enjoyed themselves.”
The various branches served ‘all day’ morning teas and the barbeque went down a treat with all the visitors.
Armidale even brought a bus to the spring fair day and the gate saw around 100 visitors come through.
During the day the CWA hosted 18 stall holders who reported that they were very happy with the turnover for the day.
The stalls included handicrafts, weaving, wood turning, silk works, woodens signs, paper jewellery and of course the ever delicious cake stalls.
Some of the stallholders travelled from as far as Stanthorpe for the spring fair.
The Northern Tablelands Group of the CWA will be holding a meeting in Glen Innes later this year.
