Several representatives made the finals for their divisions and a bronze and silver medal were added to the collection on September 3, 4 and 5.
Sports Teacher Kirstie Fuller said it was exciting that their school had done so well.
“To see Glen Innes students achieve at that level is great,” she said.
“They are all quite young as well which sees us competing well in the future.
Teacher Genevieve Byrne said the students were competing against other students who trained everyday with amazing facilities.
“We are genuinely competitive and really punching way above their weight.”
“It’s a real kudos to the town.”
Amy Byrne ran in ninth for the 100m, Sarah Byrne came sixth in long jump and Evan Byrne came sixth in the long jump with a PB of 5m 24cm.
Corey Kennedy placed fourth in the 800m by three milliseconds, but in his heat came first in 2:19 minutes.
Luke Kiehne placed 12th in the 800m, Stella Grieve just missed out on the finals in discus, Eleanor Malone placed 14th in the 400m, Charlie Smith took 10th spot in 800m and Elizabeth Chard took ninth in shot put, 13th in discus and 15th in javelin.
Matthew Campion brought home bronze in the 200m steeple chase, 7th in the 1500m and 8th in the under 18’s 3000m.
Campion smashed the national qualification time for the steeple chase at 6:37 minutes, and will compete in Perth next March; he is still trying to make the qualification time for the under 18’s 3000m however he is competing up a few age divisions for this race.
Mikielee Snow came sixth in the 100m and made a PB of 27.94seconds in the 200m.
Nick Alley brought home the silver medal in pentathlon.
The 15’s Girls relay consisting of Amy Byrne, Mikielee Snow, Eleanor Malone and Anna Sharman came 5th; they brought home a PB of 52.11 seconds.
The 13’s Boys Relay consisting of Mark Law, Corey Kennedy, Evan Byrne and Luke Kiehne had a hazardous first leg which resulted in a disqualification; however they did finish the race in good time.
Everyone is hoping to compete again next year, but overall they were happy with their achievements at the state competition.
