Thirty dancers will be converging on Glen Innes to compete in the SDAA Northern Tablelands Competition on Saturday afternoon.

 This is the third year the competition has been held in Glen Innes and this year Marianne Tevardy will adjudicating the dancers.

Entrants range from ages four to 19, with New South Wales and southern Queensland competitors being in attendance.

Competition Convenor Tracey Whitehill said there will be all levels of dancing at the competition.

“Two of the dancers have recently been to Scotland and danced at numerous competitions there,” she said.

“Some of the dancers have competed at champion competition level.”

There are primary, beginners, intermediate and premier dancers performing in over nine different categories.

There is the opportunity to see the Highland fling, the sword dance, the hornpipe, the barracks as well as many other events.

Tracey said performers will be dancing in traditional kilt dances, the sailors dance and the national Scottish costume of the Aboyne.

Catch the Northern Tablelands highland dancing on Saturday in the Glen Innes Public School Hall from 1230pm until 4pm.
