War Memorial Hall Reserve Trust Secretary Dorothy Every brought home the honour from the 2015 Regional Achievement and Community Awards held in Dubbo on November 14.
The Hall Reserve Trust brought home the grand prize of $2,500.
Minister for Primary Industries, Lands and Water and Patron of the Awards Niall Blair said it was a great privilege to be a part of the Annual Regional Achievement and Community Awards in Dubbo over the weekend.
“I congratulate the Ben Lomond War Memorial Trust for winning the Department of Primary Industries Crown Reserve Trust, and all the recipients of awards on the night,” he said.
“The members of the Trust embody the strong community spirit which is so valuable in regional NSW, caring for the 107 year old War Memorial Hall, ensuring it is in good shape for the tourist groups, dances and business functions its hosts today.”
Secretary Dorothy Every said she was absolutely shocked when they were announced as winners.
“There has been a massive amount of voluntary work in the last 2 years,” she said.
“It’s hard work for a small community and they have just done an amazing amount.”
The Hall Reserve Trust have recently completed a storeroom, an enclosed BBQ area and a full kitchen upgrade.
A new toilet block has also been completed and was recently officially opened plus the car park is under construction.
Original photos of servicemen and women have also been restored and displayed in the Hall.
The Ben Lomond War Memorial Hall Reserve Trust will use their winnings to maintain the hall and pay the debt from the renovations.
