To hold our Presentation at the Services club was a new approach by the clubs committee, rather than rush on the carnival day.
Our club has steadily grown and now has 171 Financial Members and 5 life members' ages ranging from 6 years to our eldest member Warwick Twigg who has been in the club for 60 years.
Sam Baker was our MC for the night & kept the night flowing & with our special guest Richard Quinn from the Glen Innes Examiner (a competitive swimmer himself) presented the awards to our swimmers with help from our club captains Jessica DeJong & Ruby Beatty.
We had 54 2015/16 age champion winners ranging from age 6 to 25 & overs, receiving trophies. 2015/16 overall point score winners, boys were. First Peter Marshall, second Wade Grennan and third Laytone Donaldson-James & girls first Cadence McShane, second Sophie McCormick and equal third Dakota Kerr & Mellissa Grennan.
- Club captain's award went to Dakota Kerr.
Warwick Twigs Synchronised Swimmers awards went to Annaliese Gillett & Sophie
McCormick.
Keith Watts our Club President presented this year's GISC Service to sport award to Veronica McNamara, who organises & runs learn to swim & assists with stroke correction on Sunday mornings.
Some of our higher achievers this season were, Kyara Mcintyre & Steller Grieve who was awarded the Australian Junior Excellence Program (JX) award which recognises high achievement in junior athletes.
Peter Marshall, Kyara Mcintyre & Lilly Cook have been selected for the Alpha Development
Squad which holds five squad meets through the winter.
Peter is also going to the Combine High School meet at Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre in April, for 100m & 200m freestyle & 200 IM & together with Kyara Mcintyre, Bridgette Beatty, Claudia Seiber & Annaliese Gillett for Girls 13 years 200M Freestyle relay.
Part of the reason for our good results this season is the upgrade of the pool carried out by our Council along with the dedication of each swimmer, the results overall are very pleasing as swimmers only train 3 mornings per week.
The night was relaxed with a great meal supplied by the services club, followed by our presentation.
We believe all 235 people who attended our presentation had a great night.
We would like to thank the Glen Innes Services club for a lovely meal.
