Ross battled through a field of older and more experienced lawn bowlers before ending up in the semi eventually going down in a tight battle 25 to 22.
Thirteen year old Ross said she tried her best on the day to make the grand final but was proud of making the semi.
“I thought I bowled the best that I could in the semi but my opponent was just too good on the day,” she said.
“There were a few times during the match that I thought I could get up and win, so I feel I was in the match all the way through it.
“I tried to be bold and made a few tactical decisions that were risky and they just didn’t pay off on the day, but I’d rather play that way than play it safe.”
Mum Kylie Ross said she was very proud of Haylee and the way she played the tournament.
“She played against women who have so much experience, some of them 50 plus and this is her first year of playing the sport, she is only 13 and to nearly make the final in this competition is a great achievement,’ she said.
“It will show her what she is capable of in the sport and it will spur her on to get better I am sure.”
