Miss Egginton purchased a bag of sapphire wash for $12 and found a token in the bag and returned it to the Visitor Information Centre to be in with a chance of winning the shining prize.
Toni Blair from Reddestone Sapphires and Sal Molesworth from the Visitor Information Centre handed the sapphire earrings to a very happy Miss Eggington after her token was drawn from the many entries.
Miss Egginton said she decided to drive to Glen Innes to buy some wash bags after spending a week away fossicking for her partner’s birthday late last year.
“We ran out of the bags so I made a day trip to purchase more to get us through until we could have another week away trying our luck at finding more sapphires to add to our collection,” she said.
“I had my two nieces over for a day and they were the ones who opened the bag that held the token while they were trying their luck to find some sapphires.
I am over the moon with my win and the generosity of the three sponsors, the Glen Innes Visitor Centre, Reddestone Sapphires and 7 Oaks and I will be wearing the earrings to a special family dinner that we have next weekend.”
