The autumn weather made for pleasant conditions that saw dogs pushing themselves to a high level.

Young guns Ethan Davis and locals Casey McIntyre and Tyler Hodgman turned out some very good scores and mixed well with more experienced competitors.

Competitors travelled considerable distance for the event, with a number staying in the district to compete at the Australian Championships the following weekend at Red Range.  

The Pinkett committee said the event was very successful.

“We would like to thank cattle donors and all those who assisted over the weekend with a very successful event,” Committee member Barbara Hollis said.

“The state of NSW was well represented with competitors from the east coast, Hunter Valley and central west.”

Mrs Hollis said the Judges for the weekend were Greg Wright, Robert Johnston and Richard Stokes and that they had their work cut out for them with such high quality form to judge.  

“Kevin Bell of Dubbo and 'Rosie' led into the final of the Maiden event and this form continued to take out the Maiden title with 187pts,” she said.

“The Novice was a close affair with 13 finalists competing with scores ranging from 91 to 95, Ethan Davis and ‘Lass’  with a first round of 94 and final of 93 claimed the Novice title and trophy.

“The Open event required two judges whose scores are combined then averaged in each

Round and after two rounds, combined scores of 179.5pts and above gave competitors a berth in the final. 

“Jamie Sturrock of Drillham Qld entered the final with three dogs and it was Craiglea Tex who took out the open title with a final score of 276.5pts.
