More than 400 breakfasts were served to the campers at $10 for a full plate of hearty food that fuelled travellers up for a full day at the festival.
Glen Innes Men’s Shed President Paul Raper said they had to order more food for the weekend because they sold so many breakfasts on Friday morning.
“We ran out of tomatoes and a few other things because the breakfast proved to be so popular in the days leading up to the weekend,” he said.
“We like to do this because it starts the people’s day of well, we spread a bit of goodwill and of course we are fundraising.
“We need money to build our new shed and to buy some metal machines for our current shed.”
Alexis and Al Dent from Tamworth were amongst the campers who tucked into the men’s shed breakfast and said it is a great way to start a busy day.
“We love camping at the showgrounds and the breakfast are so big, so much food for a great price,” Mrs Dent said.
“The men’s shed crew cook up a great feed and their hospitality is one reason why we’ll come back,” Mr Dent said.
Shed Secretary Jim Wilson said the crew from the men’s shed just like being involved in the Celtic festival.
“We like being involved and we’d like to thank all the men for their dedication to show up early and cook, it’s good to raise money, but it’s also good to leave a friendly impression for people coming to the festival,” he said.
“The men’s shed really take pride in our town and we love doing things like this.”
