The Elkettes showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in this seasons women’s sevens competition winning game one 32 nil and backing up with a 34 nil win in game two.
Club spokesman Jim Ritchie said the Elkettes had all the answers against the Barbets.
“The first game saw Cate Fakes go over in the first minute for a try and from there the Elkettes scored fairly regularly,” he said.
“Alisa Tunamena crossed for a try in the fourth minute, which was converted by Breanna Grange to take the score to 12 nil.
“In the sixth minute Courtney Grange crossed for a try which was against the run of play.”
Mr Ritchie said the Elkettes then scored three more tries.
“Leonie Pettit scored two and Alisa Tunamena scored one to take the full time score in the first game to 32 nil in favour of the Elkettes,” he said.
“The second game of the day saw the girls come out keen to continue dominating the Barbets and the first try by Cate Fakes came after a superb pass from Sophie McAnsch, the try was converted by Breanna Grange.
The try of the day was a great team try, with the ball going out the back line with Leonie Pettit crossing the line, Courtney Grange then scored another try soon after under the posts following a great stealing of the ball from the breakdown. “
Ritchie said the second half resulted in further tries to Courtney Grange and another two tries to Breanna Grange, with only one converted, taking the full time score to 34 nil.
“Congratulations to the Elkettes on a superb performance and it was great to see some very entertaining Rugby,” he said.
