The Fossicking, Gem and Jewellery Show is New South Wale’s largest annual gem and jewellery show, attracting many visitors and around 134 dealers this year from all over Australia.
Minerama is organized by a small and effective Section 355 Community Committee of Council whose members are keen to mentor new people and enable succession planning to take place.
Glen Innes Severn Council Tourism Assistant Sal Molesworth said you don’t have to be a fossicker to be eligible for membership.
“Minerama runs on a very simple formula and while there’s plenty of room for expansion of the event, members’ time and involvement to do this would be minimal,” she said.
“It’s a very happy and relaxed Committee and the short one hour meetings that are held about nine times a year make it a very attractive prospect for community minded people.
“The Committee is also open to changing meeting times and dates to fit in with new members’ lives.”
Ms Molesworth said the committee does need some help.
“We would love to have more representation from the community,” she said.
“We do need more community members to help.
“If anyone in the community is interested in joining the committee then please call the Visitor Information Centre on 6730 2400 to discuss the Minerama Committee and the roles of its members.”
