At approximately 5.30 pm on Sunday night, staff members were at the sink washing dishes when a person wearing a balaclava entered the store and aggressively demanded money.
Store owner Jacqui Walker said staff members were not physically harmed and the robber fled soon after he was given money from the till.
“We are all pretty shaken up to think that something like this could happen in Glen Innes,” she said.
“We have been here for 26 years and we have never had an incident like this occur before.
“Hopefully, the police will find who did it so they won’t be able to do it again because it was frightening for staff and we are offering them ongoing support.”
Mrs Walker said she has been overwhelmed by the support the Glen Innes public has given her and her staff.
“The Glen Innes public have been amazing and we have received hundreds of messages and well wishes which we are grateful for,” she said.
“The local police have been amazing also, they were really good to my staff on the night and hopefully they will find the person who did this.”
Glen Innes Police Sergeant Mark Johnston said the investigation is ongoing.
“If anyone has information regarding the robbery, if they saw anything or know of anything please contact the Police on 6732-9799 or Crime stoppers on 1800 333 000,” he said.
