DRUMBEAT is a social development program which allows participants to explore relationship issues and build resilience through rhythm. 

Glen Innes Public School Learning and Support teachers Carla Bryant said the School was lucky to be given this opportunity.

“I was very enthused by the possibilities this program offered for students,” she said.

“Throughout the term Marjory Gray, Kristin Lynn, Jo Moffatt and I ran three groups for children of a variety ages. 

“Therapeutic games and discussions in each session provide the children with the chance to develop social skills that lead to better relationships and an increased sense of belonging. “

Mrs Bryant said that the DRUMBEAT journey has been an invaluable experience for her and the children. 

“It has been wonderful to watch the children grow overtime and become more mature, happy and confident people and I am looking forward to sharing the experience with another group of students in the near future,” she said.

“The DRUMBEAT graduation for the groups highlighted the amazing performances offered by the children to a large crowd of supporters which was the pinnacle to a term of fun learning opportunities and challenges that DRUMBEAT provided.” 

Public School student Nathan Brodie said DRUMBEAT was great fun and he believes it has given him the skills to survive life in the future. 

Year two student William Lynn said DRUMBEAT has been lots of fun and he has made lots of new friends during the program.
